On a tree-lined street in Short Hills, this family home needed better flow and connection. The original rooms felt closed off and formal. The redesign focused on creating balance and warmth through transitional style design so spaces open to one another while keeping their own character.

The family room sets the tone with soft neutral fabrics, layered textures, and warm metal accents that catch the light. A curved wall of hand-applied plaster now defines a once-empty corner and frames a marble fireplace with flowing veining. In the kitchen and wet bar, custom millwork, honed stone, and clean cabinetry continue the same language and blend strength with a timeless look.

A patterned powder room adds a quiet break in tone without losing the sense of calm. Upstairs, muted paint colors and woven fabrics create soft transitions between rooms. Each space connects through consistent materials, clear sightlines, and thoughtful scale.

This transitional interior design shows how a few key changes can transform a home. Light moves easily from one space to the next, and every detail supports the rhythm of daily life. The result feels elegant but easy, modern comfort rooted in craft and connection.
